Stacked double cheeseburger

A piquant sauce gives this layered hamburger with tasty steak mince and oozing emmental the extra dimension

Method

  1. Mix the burger sauce ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Combine the meat, Worcestershire sauce, grated onion, mustard and lots of seasoning. Form 8 thin patties, season. Heat an outdoor grill or use a grill pan. Drizzle oil on both sides if using the later. Grill for 3-4 minutes each side for medium. For the last minute add cheese. Stack 2 burgers in each bun with tomato, lettuce, onion slices and burger sauce.

    This was delicious. Easy to make and great taste. My OH particulalrly loved the sauce. The only thing I changed was no gated onion, I cut it really finely instead. I also made one big burger instead of 2 on top of each other as it makes it easier to eat. This will be my fail safe burger recipe from now on.

  • 750g ground steak mince
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 onion , ½ grated, ½ sliced
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 8 slices emmental
  • 1 beef tomato , sliced
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 crusty buns

BURGER SAUCE

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • gherkins , finely diced to make 1 tbsp
  • onion , finely diced to make 1 tbsp
  • ¼ tsp garlic salt
