Ingredients

  • 100g butter
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp red food colouring
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 200g self-raising flour

FOR DECORATION

  • 175g butter
  • 275g icing sugar

Method

  • STEP 1
    Preheat the oven to gas mark 4/170C.
  • STEP 2
    Beat the butter sugar together until creamy.
  • STEP 3
    Add in the eggs, red food colouring, and cocoa powder.
  • STEP 4
    Fold in the flour.
  • STEP 5
    Bake for 15-25 minutes.
  • STEP 6
    After cooling, mix the butter and icing sugar and smooth over cupcakes using either a spoon, or palette knife.
  • STEP 7
