Method

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and cook the garlic for a few secs. Tip in the spinach and cook for 2 mins, stirring often until just beginning to wilt. Drizzle over the soy sauce, toss through and scatter with sesame seeds. Great served with chicken or grills.

Make it different

This basic recipe works well with most green vegetables. You could try blanching broccoli, asparagus or beans until just tender, then cooking as above.

    Made this tonight, really nice subtle flavours of soy, garlic and sesame. I'd definitely recommend it, it's so quick and easy.

    I've made a similar side dish using spinach/pak choi and brocolli, using a little oyster sauce in addition to the soy. Makes a lovely side dish to any oriental-style meat, such as five-spice chicken or crispy beef.
