Method

  1. Mix together all the ingredients until well blended. Divide into 8 balls, then roll each ball on a board with a cupped hand to turn them into ovals.
  2. Thread onto 4 metal skewers and brush with oil. To cook on a griddle: heat the pan until you can feel a good heat rising and cook for 3-4 mins each side. Don't turn until they are well sealed or the meat will stick to the grill or pan. Season if you want, and set aside. Serve the koftas with yogurt and spiced flat breads.
Try

To BBQ

Put the meat skewers on the grill over a medium heat for about 3-4 mins each side.

I wish people wouldn't give five stars away so easily. I've tried quite a bit of kofta in my time but I didn't really finf this to be a five star recipe. It was ok but I've tasted kofta with far punchier flavour. You need to double all the spices that you add in my opinion.

I agree Guzzler, I would double the spice levels too and add seasoning, with a tiny bit of lemon juice i think..

I followed a lot of the advice, added lemon juice and crushed chillies with extra coriander and cumin, and the family loved them. Ifilled pita bread with salad, placed these inside and topped it with tzatziki......lovely!

A tasty midweek meal. I served it with new potatoes/chives, salad, pitta breads, taziki and houmous. Simple, quick and easy. Would have been 5 stars except it did repeat a little due to the large quantity of garlic, I will use one large clove next time.

Easy to make and taste pretty good too however could be dramatically improved by adding a little salt.

My first attempt at making lamb koftas and I was pleasantly surprised. I seasoned the lamb mince to begin with and drizzled with lemon juice when they were cooked and served in pitta bread with lettuce and tzatziki. I felt they were a bit dry and that maybe they needed some olive oil added to the mixture as well as coating once they are formed...

We loved these and will definitely make again. I think they could do with a bit more kick so if I make them again I will add a chilli as someone else suggested. However for a bbq I will stick to the recipe above and shape them into burgers - yum :-))

I tried these and also added pine nuts to the mixture. My only problem was that they could not stick to the skewers! At the end I added an egg but to no avail so I just presented them as patties with cucumber and mint yogurt dip. Big success!
