Method

  1. Mix together all the ingredients until well blended. Divide into 8 balls, then roll each ball on a board with a cupped hand to turn them into ovals.
  2. Thread onto 4 metal skewers and brush with oil. To cook on a griddle: heat the pan until you can feel a good heat rising and cook for 3-4 mins each side. Don't turn until they are well sealed or the meat will stick to the grill or pan. Season if you want, and set aside. Serve the koftas with yogurt and spiced flat breads.
Try

To BBQ

Put the meat skewers on the grill over a medium heat for about 3-4 mins each side.

Very easy to make. Lots of taste. I didn't use the skewers just cooked them in the griddle pan. Now a family favourite.

Made this recipe for me and my hubby, we both loved the meal and will make for friends next time we entertain. I thought the kebabs were a little dry maybe I grilled them to long this time, have taken note for next time.

We love my version(s) of Koftas, which is sort of similar, but obviously there are differences too. The mince: lamb is best but not necessary. Lemon juice is a major plus. An egg (yolk or whole of egg) plus bread crumbs - can pad the whole thing out for more portions. Either shape into ovals for skewers, or shape into balls and flatten slightly to fry. Or even small meatballs. Whatever works for you. But the lemon juice makes the most huge difference.

These were so easy to make. Done in minutes. I grilled them for about 5 mins each side and served them with pitta bread and a yogurt, cucumber and mint sauce and salad. yummy! Would definitely do again. The time-spent-in-kitchen:taste ratio is fantastic.

These were tasty and moist, but a portions were a bit small for my family of hungry teenagers - they could easily have eaten 3 or 4 each.

this is a really easy recipe that tastes great, I put lemon juice with them and halved the amount of garlic, my friends loved them too much better than the processed versions in the supermarkets!!! I served them as nibbles on a platter with pitta bread and houmas.

Really lovely and i also added a tsp of cinnamon powder, which gave it a Lebanese taste to it. I will be adding these to my BBQ list for the summer.

I uses 2 tbs chopped mint and added 1 red chopped chilli without seeds to give them depth and a little kick. I also added a little bit of beaten egg to bind everything together then made 8 long koftas and put onto the BBQ. They tasted much better than shop bought and great with homemade tzatziki.

Lovely. I put them on skewers with some peppers for bbq with a nice red onion salad and tzatziki I have some mixed up and portioned in the freezer so i can have them at short notice -as don't always have fresh mint in the kitchen. Hope if won't effect the freshness of the flavours.

Excellent BBQ dish. I formed them into burger shapes which made for easier cooking. Add a nice hot chilli or 2 to give them a real kick.
