Method

  1. Heat oven to 230C/fan 210C/gas 8. In a large bowl toss the potatoes, onion, liquid and oil together. Season if you like. Tip the onion and potatoes into a large sauté pan and bake for 20-30 mins until the potatoes start to brown. Lay the chops on the potatoes and cook for 10 mins more.

  2. While the potatoes are cooking, mix the cheese, mustard and milk together. When the chops have had 10 mins, spread the cheese mixture over them and switch the oven over to grill. Place the pan under the grill and cook for about 5 mins until the cheese is bubbling and the potatoes are golden and crispy. Serve straight from the pan.

Absolutely delicious, used red wine vinegar and a splash of Worcester Sauce. Make sure you serve up all the the sauce from the bottom of the pan it is rich and loaded with flavour

Read the comments before making this and thought it would be very yummy but I'm totally disappointed. Thought it was very bland, I don't like pork at the best of times but thought i would try something different. Still don't like pork!

This is fab. Next time I may just add a dash of cream into the pan juices to makes a bit of throw over sauce for the spuds and onions as there was quite a lot of them.

My Word! what an easy an tasty recipe! Cooked it tonight, slightly thicker slices of potato so cooked for longer, put the onions in later so they didn't burn, everyone loved it, totally clean plates!!

I used some Chaorce soft cheese that really needed using up and it was delicious. It really couldn't be much easier.

Sorry - but the potatoes do not cook through. Even if you slice them thinly with a machine - 40 min is not enough time. The potatoes at the top cook, but the rest stick together and do not cook. Yes - I stirred them. Yes - I know what I am doing.
Chops were ok. Students might be ok with this - we were not.

As this seems like man food I did this last night for mine and it was absolutely fab. Trusted the recipe and only cooked the pork for 10mins then grilled it for 5mins to melt the cheese and it was cooked perfectly. I used wine as the splash and two red onions. Will defo do again but would like to try chicken in future. Yum

nice easy recipe. I used about 3tbs of mustard and double cream instead of milk as I had some that needed using up. Made a lovely sauce and the potatoes were lovely. Didnt really flavour the pork much but it was a nice change to just having them with veg and potatoes. Would definitely make the potatoes with the sauce again but I dont think it added to the pork in any way other than mustard sauce going well with it.

Made this for informal supper with friends. Great overall, friends really liked the pork chops which were succulent and tasty. Added sweet potato but it did not add to the dish.

The chops were really nice but I’d like to try this with a little Dijon mustard next time instead of wholegrain. Also I didn’t follow the recipe for the chips; I boiled them in salted water for a few minutes and roasted them on a baking tray with a little oil until crispy. I prepared the chips before I went to work to save time which made this a very quick, easy mid week meal.

I really fancied a pork chop but they usually come out dry when I grill them so I tried this and it was a resounding success. Boyfriend looked suitably impressed when I presented it and I barely had to put any effort in!

Nice recipe, we used splash of wine only.
And this 4 people served meal was finished by 3 people! really yummy!

I thought the sauce kind of overpowered the pork chops. Chops are nice enough on their own not to need smothering in cheese and mustard! But it was still ok.

Very tasty and so easy, will be making again. Next time I'll add the apple as I found it quite rich and needing that contrast
