  Whenever i tried a recipie from the Good Food magazine or now from this web site i always received wonderfull results.They are easy to make and the the results are perfect.Today i'm trying this cake.Thankyou Good Food.My family really enjoys coming round my house because they always find something delicious with their tea.

  The coffee cake looks great, and just right for Father's Day, but so do the other cakes in the picture! What are they? I assume they all start with the Victoria sponge recipe. It would be great to use the 1 basic recipe to make all those different cakes! Susan

  I absolutely loved this cake - I made it for my dad for father's day and he really was over the moon with it! Really personal prezzie, that just happens to taste like heaven!

  Have to say; turned out to be the best cake I've made to date - very simple and easy recipe, fab results. Didn't taste overly of coffee, but hey, I guess most coffee cakes don't and it was still splllendid - boyfriend was even mature enough to do a smiley face in walnuts on the top. :)

  Susan - Other cakes in this picture are..... Nutty apple streusel cake, Sticky toffee banoffee cake, Orange and rosemary drizzle cake, Fudgy dark chocolate cake, Pistachio praline and vanilla cake, Spotty blueberry and clotted cream cake, Coconut and lime cake. All variations on the basic recipe. Enjoy!

  A really delicious cake. I didn't have any tia-maria, so added a shot of espresso (or i suppose you could use about 30ml of REALLY strong coffee) together with a tablespoon or two of ordinary dark rum. It was delicious. I only had 250g of mascarpone, so just decorated the top and the inside layer - didn't bother with the outside edges. It was delicious. Went down a treat with my boyfriend and his work colleagues.

  This is just about the best sponge I have ever made, just divine! I couldn't get marscapone for the icing so used ricotta instead - big mistake! It was a very strange consistency and there was only enough for sandwiching the cakes together. I was also surprised to see there is no coffee in the icing, as most coffee cakes do feature this. Next time I'd make it with a coffee butter icing, or with marscapone (if I can get it!)

  I am no success in the kitchen however I found this cake easy to make and everyone who tried it loved it. I added some chopped walnuts to the sponge mix and I didn't completely cover the cake as the recipe suggests as I found the icing very sweet so I just put it between and on top. I also added some coffee mix to the icing to help calm the sweetness down. All in all I can safely say that, for once, I was actually a success in the kitchen!

  I've never had much success with cakes for some reason but this one turned out superb! I added some coffee to the filling as it was fairly flavourless without it, and I added extra coffee to the cake mixture too. I also added a lot more walnut halves than the recipe called for. Superb! It's as good (no, better) as cake you would pay for in a top notch cafe, in fact my husband's friend told me today that he would happily pay £5 for a slice. Maybe I'll go into business! ;o)

  Really good cake, only 15 and I have been trying a lot of recipe's and this coffee cake is the best cake I have tasted in a long time. One thing I will say is that I though as my family did, that the icing was a bit sickly. But it is still worth a 5*, adn it was so easy
