  1. Heat the oil in a pan, throw in the onion and cook for a couple of minutes. Stir in the garlic, tomatoes, chilli and sugar. Season with salt and pepper and bring to the boil. Give it a good stir, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, bring a large pan of salted water to the boil. Add the pasta and cook according to packet instructions. Flake the tuna into the sauce and heat through. Drain the pasta, return to the pan and stir in the sauce and basil leaves if you have any. Serve with a generous grinding of pepper.

very easy to make and a quick standby evening meal. It has become a firm fav in our house. I add an extra chilli to give it more of a quick.

This is a good idea but NO WAY do you need a full 500g packet for this. I used about half to two thirds of the amount stated above and got a good ratio of sauce to pasta. Perhaps though my sauce reduced down too much. Sauce was tasty though and very quick and easy for a Monday night. Added a few capers as they were in the fridge.

Very quick, easy, and tasty. As others have said though, I thought 500g was far too much pasta for this recipe.

Very simple to make. Used the oil from the tuna tin and added some basil instead of chilli.

Make this for a quick lunch and it went down really well with a green salad. Great standby as said before, with all store cupboard items. I blended the sauce in the pan to make it smoother and was nice and thick once reduced. Good recipe.

Soooooo easy and very tasty. I liquidised the sauce as I'm, not keen on lumpy sauces - still delicious. I think I might try it with cooked chicked next time.

We all really enjoyed this dish, I cant believe my children ate a meal with chilli powder in! I made mine with wholemeal penne pasta and it went down very well, I also made a wholmeal garlic baguette.

Just noticed I totally forgot the basil. I love fresh basil and we had it in but on the other it was still lush without it! I altered recipe to suit my own taste, made it into a pasta BAKE with cheese and breadcrumbs which I totally recommend. For me Tuna and Tom only really work together when it's SPICY :)

Great low fat AND store cupboard recipe. Used double the amount of Tuna, I hadn't got that small a tin, and threw in a few capers - worked well and was enjoyed by all. Great standby recipe.
