Jaffa drizzle loaf

Jaffa drizzle loaf

If you like Jaffa Cakes, you’ll love the moist, fruity cake. It will keep for a week, but it’s unlikely to last that long

Method

  1. Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Butter and line the base of a 1.2-litre loaf tin. Put all the cake ingredients into a bowl and beat with a hand whisk or wooden spoon for 3-5 mins, until light and fluffy. Spoon the mix into the tin and level the top.
  2. Bake for 40-50 mins, until golden brown and firm to the touch. Meanwhile, heat the orange juice and sugar gently in a small pan, stirring until dissolved. When the cake is cooked, remove it from the oven and spoon over the orange mix. Leave to cool in the tin, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
  3. Break up the chocolate and melt over a pan of simmering water or in the microwave on Medium for 1-2 mins. Drizzle over the cake and leave to set.

I've been making this cake for a couple of years now and it never fails. It's easy to make and alsways tastes great. I use milk rather than dark chocolate though.

Didnt have enough of an orange/jaffa kick for me, so i cut it in half and spread marmalade through it. Wonder if a little orange blossom water in the cake mix would help it along, will try next time. Very good texture and the choc works great.

I used 180g sugar and zest of 2 oranges(because I thought 200g was a lot what with adding the syrup, and I like orange flavour cakes) and it tasted delicious. Very easy , liked by all and will bake again.

Love, love, love this cake! It is very similar in taste to jaffa cakes, only a whole lot more moist. Have done the topping with and without orange juice - good both ways. Have made it for OH's work a few times due to popular request. Only point to note is that it takes longer to cook than recipe states but it's highly likely I'm not using the correct sized loaf tin.

This is really nice. I have made it twice now and everyone loved it. I have also made a different version; using lemons instead of orange and white chocolate rather then dark...I think I liked this one even more!!

Amazing dessert, really easy to make! I used the zest from two oranges instead of just one for a more powerfull flavour. Also, it only took 30 min to bake, not 55. I guess it depends on the oven.

big hit all round. probably will use either milk chocolate to top next time or a lower cocoa dark chocolate.

Lovely. Just wanted to also reiterate that the microwave should be at MEDIUM. It was my first attempt at melting in this way, and I had it on high -- it all burnt & I had to start again (and air out the kitchen!). Also, for non-UK cooks, "self-rising flour" is about 2 cups / 194 gr flour, 2 teaspoons / 6 gr baking powder, 1/2 t salt.

This cake was really easy to make. The end result was amazing, it was mosit, orangy & had chocolate on it - what more do you want?? The only thing i found was that after using an electric whisk to mix, the orange zest had stuck to the whisks, so always check them - because you may be loosing essential orangeness!!!!

I made this orange cake today without the chocolate topping. All I can say is this is a 5 stars cake, it tastes absolutely gorgeous and very moist. My husband even suggested me to sell this cake at the office!! Try this recipe, you will not regret! I promise :)

Wow this cake is fantastic. Took me back to having Jaffa Cakes and Milky Tea at my Nan's on a sunday. My Nephew who's two ate 2 slices and me and my partner finnished off the rest. Yum! I used the zest from 2 oranges as they looked a little wrinkly and past their best!
