  1. Video tutorial: Chopping an onion

Method

  1. Put the chicken, ginger, garlic, chilli powder, coriander, lime juice and 1 tbsp of oil in a bowl. Stir, and set aside. Chop the onion, and seed and chop the chilli.
  2. Heat a large shallow pan. Tip in the chicken and marinade and fry for about 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Meanwhile, heat the remaining oil in a pan and fry the onion and chilli for 3-4 minutes until just soft. Add the turmeric and stir fry for 1 minute. Lower the heat, pour in the cream and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the chicken and simmer for 5 minutes, or until cooked. Season and stir in the lemon juice. Serve with rice and naan bread.

Taste team comment

'I was delighted to try this, as we love curries. I didn't like handling the chillies - but the aromas were wonderful. I served it with mango rice and naan bread.'

I have made this twice now, found the first time that the double cream was too heavy so changed it the second time around for M&S extra thick single cream which worked really well. Also added about 75ml of natural yoghurt (low fat) as well for extra sauce as the boyfriend prefers more sauce to dip naan bread in!!! Very tasy and will be using this time and time again now :-)

I described thisrecipe as ok. Not exactly a stand out dish. Maybe I did something wrong, all the other comments made me really think this would be better. Not sure I would go to the effort of cooking this again as the result wasnt that impressive. There are better curry recipes on thsi site.

I loved this curry but my husband thought it was abit bland and not hot enough, it was definatley missing something but cannot think what it might be. Did anyone else add anything to this?

Started doing this years ago when I first see the recipe and it is delicious (almost as tasty as the man himself!) I put grated block coconut in with mine to make it extra creamy and even add a little more chilli and my kids love it. I also use preboiled, halved baby new potatoes as well. It makes it go further and I think makes it taste better. I have mine with Tilda basmati and wild rice, and the obligatory naan bread and a homemade yoghurt dip.

Fabulous - I have made this lots of times now and always goes down a treat even with the children. I always add extra lime and ginger for a bit more punch.

Made this for the first time the other evening. I found it to be very tasty and mild and a hit with most of my family except my teenage son who said it was not spicy enough for him, (no pleasing some people). Looking forward to finding him something hotter on this website.

This recipe is fab, I have made this on quite a few occassions now and we both love it - it's a real treat and definitely restaurant quality! I added a lot more ginger and garlic than the recipe suggested and doubled the chillis to 2 as we like quite hot curries.

This was a nice curry, unfortunately I ruined it by squeezing in too much lemon, tasted nice before I added it, trying again tonight with less lemon. Cant wait!

Made this last night and it's definitely got 'oodles of flavour' going on! I think I'd use natural yoghurt next time though - double cream is a bit rich for my taste.

This is fast becoming a weekday favourite. I like to use half fat coconut milk instead of cream to drag down the calories, yummy.

made this for the first time today. used natural yoghurt instead of cream but it seem to curdle so the taste of the curry was spoilt. The sauce seemed thin so I added cornflour to thicken it. When I tasted it there seemed too much lemon. Don't quite know what I did wrong, as I followed the recipe carefully. Probably won't do it again.
