  1. Melt the marshmallows and golden syrup in a pan, then stir in Rice Krispies. Working quickly, pack the mixture into ice cream cones and push a lolly stick into the middle of each one. Chill the cones for 1 hr until completely firm. Mix icing sugar with green food colouring and enough water to make a thick icing. Dip the cones into the icing and decorate with sweets and sprinkles. Prop up on a wire cooling rack to set.

This was not easy at all! The marhmallow stuck to the bottom of the pan so we put it in a bain marie which worked. The marshmallow was then too sticky and stringy to push into the cones!!!! We gave up - we sprayed our hands with fry light then rolled the rice crispy and marshmallow mixture into balls then put them on a tray. We then pushed a coctail stick in each of them. Once set we dipped them in melted choclate and decorated with a little icing and sprinkles...daaa taaaaa mini christmas puddings!

I made these with me 3 yr old and 6 yr old today. As the recipe says you have to work quickly with the Krispie marshmallow mix as it does go stringy very quickly. The other tip is to have something ready to put them in to keep them upright in the fridge. We found that 2 per plastic beaker worked well. The quantities weren't right - we had double the amount of Krispies and marshmallows that we needed and about 4 times the amount of icing. Still - with lots of 'licks' and 'can I just try this?' it seemed to go down well. Would do again!

Like Jessica the mixture was really difficult to work with, stringy and impossible to get into the cones. Ended up making a tray bake with melted chocolate and edible glitter. Lovely like that but not really what my girls wanted to make.

Thought I might try these for my (grown-up) children for a bit of fun - then realised they are over 500 calories each! Even at christmas that's a bad idea.

The amounts stated make 16 cones not 6. To solve the problems of stringy mixture, melt in bowl over simmering water, and keep the bowl there. I pushed (very gently) the cones into some new oasis to keep them upright. Have two teaspoons in a cup of boiling water and use them to spoon themixture into the cones, rinsing spoons between each spoonful. when yu think cones are full gently push in the lolly sticks, the carefully top uparound the sticks. Once they are set, take them out of the oasis, turn it over, when you havedipped the cones into the icing, push the sticks into the oasis and leave to set. Hope this helps.
