Method

  1. Heat oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. Rub the flour, sugar and butter together until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Alternatively, you can do this in the food processor. Add enough egg to bring the mixture together to form a stiff dough.
  2. Flour your hands and shape the dough into a tube, about 5cm in diameter. Cut into 2cm-thick slices and place on a large baking sheet. Space them out as the mixture will spread when baking.
  3. Make a small indentation in the middle of each slice with the end of a wooden spoon, and drop a tsp of jam in the centre. Bake for 10-15 mins until slightly risen and just golden. Cool on a wire rack.

I made these with the 19 month old I babysit for. I did the dough and she cut shapes out. We made lots of hearts and then did the jam circle in the middle and stuck choc buttons in the middle of others. Really easy, tasty and looked great!

I made these biscuits by whizzing everything together in the food processor - sooooo easy! I have made them time and time again - for my children, of course! They are a quick sweet fix which require very few ingredients and absolutely no catering skill to produce.

very quick to make, next time I will add some vanilla as they tasted a little eggy. I found it a bit fiddly to put the jam in the holes and after cooking them it was obvious that I should have put more in than I did.

I've just made these and they are so nice!! I agree with amber, you definitely need to put more jam in as the biscuits spread (alot!). I'm rubbish at baking but even I could make these easily!
