Easy, easy, easy. Tasted lovely and really impressed my friends, who thought I'd spent hours making bread. Will be making again and again.

I made this this evening and it was absolutely GORGEOUS! I didn't want the salt in it though, so left it out...and it tasted divine!

I used the ingredients as given and the loaf turned out beautifully. This will become a very regular recipe with me. Loved it.

First attempt at baking bread. Looked fab, tasted too salty though! Will try again, but next time with little or no salt :-)

Such a simple recipe to follow. I used rice milk instead of buttermilk and spelt flour instead of the plain white flour. It tasted amazing!

I made this twice at the weekend. It's a fab recipe and ridiculously easy, but, the second time I made it I only put half a teaspoon of salt in, instead of one and a half. It was far too salty for me. Will make it again and again...

I thought they needed to put a lot less salt in. I found that it was too salty. I would say that you should only put 1/4-1/2 tsp of salt in.

Easy to make in no time. Unlike other doughs, this dough is meant to be wet and sticky, this ensures the loaf is moist and doesn't dry out. Don't be put off by it, it doesn't need heavy kneading so shouldn't be an issue. Replace 1 1/2 tsp of salt by a pinch and you're fine!

Wow!!! im really happy with this recipie. Ive always had problems making bread as it always turns out like BRICKS. This is so easy to make, the only alteration i made was to only use 1/2tsp salt instead of 1 1/2tsp as a previous maker said it was too salty.

Swapped the wholemeal flour for rolled oats as made this on a whim to use up buttermilk. I agree with other reviewers, the recipe calls for far too much salt - I used the amount specified and the bread is nearly inedible. This is a real shame as it's lovely and moist with perfect texture but the over-riding taste is salt. Next time I think I'll use a half teaspoon and see how that turns out!

Lovely simple recipe for soda bread. In any soda bread recipe the amount of salt is one tsp. Also a tsp of caster sugar can be added. years ago when buttermilk wasn't in the shops my mother used to use sour milk and she was famous for her brown soda.

This is the easiest recipe I have ever used for soda bread with fantastic results. Took slightly longer cooking time than stated though even with pre-heated oven.

I love this recipe. It really underscores just how simple and quick making your own bread can be. I'd not made bread for years (probably since I was a child helping my mum), but decided to take the plunge. Couple of changes to the recipe; the first time I made a loaf, I used the quantity of salt listed. Really far too salty. I would recommend a stingy teaspoon and no more. I also use yoghurt, rather than buttermilk. It means that you don't need to have buttermilk always knocking about the place. Low fat plain yoghurt is something I always tend to have and it seems to work just as well in this recipe. I found that the loaf takes the full 40 minutes in my oven. I like to flour the tray well, then when moving the loaf to a wire rack to cool, I dust the top with some of the toasted flour. Very tasty.

I love this recipe and have been making it for years with lots of rock salt, and any dried herbs that take my fancy. Yesterday I wondered whether a sweet version would work...well it does! I added 1.5 tablespoons of caster sugar, and a teaspoon of cinnamon - gorgeous!
