Method

  1. Cook the macaroni following pack instructions, adding the cauliflower for the final 4 mins.
  2. Melt the butter in a pan, then stir in the flour and mustard powder and cook for 2 mins. Gradually add the milk, stirring all the time to get a smooth sauce. Add three-quarters of the cheese and some seasoning to the sauce.
  3. Drain the macaroni and cauliflower and stir into the cheese sauce. Transfer to an ovenproof dish, then sprinkle over the remaining cheese and flash under a hot grill until golden and bubbling. Serve with a green salad, if you like.

I do this but with bacon added also and it's delicious. Make sure you mix the sauce in with the macaroni too. Not sure why they haven't done that in the picture!

This was fabulous and the ultimate comfort food. It actually looked much better than the picture. Served with a mixed salad and sausages.

I tried this but I prefer either macaroni or cauliflower - the two together wasn't great. I also prefer my cauliflower more cooked through than this. I like cauliflower cheese with a chunk of home-made wholemeal bread and butter.

Think it would be best to steam the cauliflower seperately. Otherwise a good and inexpensive meal with some meat or fish and a green salad. Sooty

Quick and easy meal, adding the cauliflower for 4 minutes resulted in perfectly cooked cauliflower and the cheesy sauce was great for a winter comfort meal! I didn't have macaroni, so just used pasta quills. I finished it off under the grill. Delicious.

A good basic mac n cheese recipe, to use as you wish. I didn't use any cauliflower, I used about 300g of pasta instead of the 250g. I used cheese and bread crumbs for top and served with corn on cob and a rocket salad. Delicious-Im in danger of eating the lot. So simple!

Despite all the good comments I found this very bland. I added tomatoes, mushrooms, garlic and this helped pep it up a bit.

I always steam the cauliflower and cook the macaroni underneath at the same time. This also works well with broccoli or a mixture of the two. Great for getting the kids to eat cauliflower and broccoli.
