Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C, gas mark 4
  2. Cream butter and sugars, once creamed, combine in the egg and vanilla.
  3. Sift in the flour and salt, then the chocolate chips.
  4. Roll into walnut size balls, for a more homemade look, or roll into a long, thick sausage shape and slice to make neater looking cookies.
  5. Place on ungreased baking paper. If you want to have the real Millies experience then bake for just 7 minutes, till the cookies are just setting - the cookies will be really doughy and delicious. Otherwise cook for 10 minutes until just golden round the edges.
  6. Take out of the oven and leave to harden for a minute before transferring to a wire cooling rack. These are great warm, and they also store well, if they don't all get eaten straight away!

I used a bar of chocolate and chopped it up rather than chips the first time I made these. Absolutely gorgeous, a hit with all the family. My husband keeps asking when I'm going to make more, and complained about the supermarket version as these were better.

This is the best cookie recipe I've found; and I've been through a few. It was so easy to prepare. I reserved the dough in the fridge and made batches so I could always eat them hot and fresh. Substituting the butter for an oil such as sunflower or light olive oil works well, and I recommend adding 150g (one sharing bag) of smarties/m&ms as an alternative to chocolate chips.

Best cookie recipe I've ever had. They're really gooey and delicious and just melt in your mouth. I made a batch for my parents for when they get from holiday but I don't think there's going to be any left for them!

I have been after a "signature" cookie recipe for a short while now. I wanted one that I would always reach for and that I would be begged to make again. This is it. The dough tastes akin to ben and jerrys ones in their ice cream (hubby was pinching it as we balled up the mixture). He also scarfed down 3 of them when they were barely out of the oven.

Smashing recipe. I didn't have any brown sugar so I used granulated white instead and substitute about 10g with black treacle for that molasses-y flavour. Also used spread instead of butter and only half the choc chips (dark). Really really nice cookies!

I replaced 50g of the flour with cocoa powder & added dark & white chocolate chunks.... Yum! Good recipe, plus it's quick & easy.
