Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • packet of 8 pork sausages (the best your budget will allow) cut into chunky pieces
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 400g can chopped tomatoes
  • 300g short pasta such as fusilli or farfalle (just over half a 500g bag)

Method

  1. Put a large pan of water on to boil. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry the sausage chunks on a fairly high heat until they are golden brown all over. Now turn the heat down and add the onion and garlic, cooking them until they have softened.
  2. Stir in the chilli powder and tomatoes with the sausages, bring the sauce to the boil then turn the heat down and let it bubble for about 10 minutes while you cook the pasta.
  3. Drop the pasta into the pan of boiling water and cook according to the pack instructions. Drain the pasta, then tip it into the frying pan with the sausage sauce, mixing well to coat. Dish up immediately with crusty bread.

Big hit with the family! I used dragon sausage though which is quite spicy in itself so it all added to the flavour! Gorgeous, a must try!

Really simple to cook and very tasty! Will def add some sweetcorn next time, and we found we had to add extra chilli powder, along with chilli flakes, but we like our food spicy. Will def be cooking this again including some of the excess veg from the garden.

Hello. This is my review of the meal in question.
This meal exercises the devine cuisine of Northern Italy and is such a delicious recipe.
It is quick, simple and easy to make and I highly recommend it.
Here is the review in Japanese for no reason:

Made this last week. Used scissors to cut up sausages, as suggested by Sheppy back in 2008. Added some chopped up red and yellow peppers. My teenage son added Tabasco sauce to his dish, but I thought it was spicy enough with the chilli powder ;) We loved it. Will definitely make again.

My kids have loved this every time I've made it. I chop and change adding extra veg, courgette, peppers, sweetcorn etc. Guaranteed 4 clear plates :-)

I cooked this to use up leftover cooked sausages. Also added some chopped courgette, and a teaspoon of marmite (I always add marmite to sauces!) and it was delicious!
