Method

  1. Preheat oven to fan 180C/conventional 200C/gas 6. Unroll the pastry onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to 40 x 32cm. Spread a layer of pasta sauce over it, leaving a 1cm border around the edges. Arrange the ham evenly on top, then scatter the grated cheese over.
  2. Starting at one of the short ends, roll the pastry up as tightly as possible. Chill in the fridge for 10 minutes or so.
  3. Take a very sharp knife and cut the roll into 12 equal slices, laying them flat on 2 non-stick baking trays as you go. Brush each pinwheel lightly with beaten egg and sprinkle over the herbs. Bake for 12-15 minutes until puffed and golden. Leave to stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.

I made these for my daughter at lunch time very easy to make and you can put any kind of filling inside, great idea for kids party not only for children great for mums and dads to nibble on too. I added a little finely chopped onion with the ham and cheese and sprinkled dried basil and oregano on top before rolling and served with raw vegetable stick. Will make these again and try diffrent fillings.

I made these for lunch. They were very nice albeit a bit soggy at the bottom. I think next time I will use slightly less sauce and possibly cook a little longer. Still yummy though and easy too.

Made these with palma ham but was a bit too salty for this dish. Aside from that they were really tasty and everyone enjoyed them.

quick, easy, kids....and husband love them. Freeze well if you use fresh puff pastry. What more could you want. Make my own tomato sauce (Annabel Karmels) which makes it super healthy and gives extra 5 a day points.

I tried something based on this recipe a couple of years ago, for my food-tech project. I used bread-dough (couldn't get away with packet pastry) and my own tomato sauce. I also left out the ham. Unfortunately, my teacher told me I didn't need to chill the roll, and it seemed to explode, and the pinwheels were extremly messy. However, they smelt lovely, and tasted even better. I will try the exact recipe, and let you know how it goes.

Anybody that has children should try this recipe. When my son has his friend over for a sleepover, this is what they always want for dinner. The pudding always has to be chocolate brownie cake, also a Good Food Recipe.

This recipe is great, my 1 year old son adores these. I make my own tomato based sauce instead of shop brought and chuck some chopped spinach in as well. They're easy to make but can be quite messy!

I absolutely love this recipe. Have made it twice now. Amazingly simple and fab for bonfire night. I tried baking in in a casserole dish and did a tare and share version, great for dinner with a fresh soup.

I make something similar, substituting the tomato sauce with pesto then sprinkle over a tin of salmon, some chopped spinach & either pine nuts or pumpkin seeds. We call them Salmon swirls & my daughter has them in her lunch box, I'm going to try the pizza ones tho for a change!
