Also delicious (though not so healthy) with golden syrup or maple syrup instead of honey.

I have porridge five times a week in the winter but made the old fashioned way with oatmeal, a little salt and water. None of this fruit on top! Yuck! I soak the oatmeal, salt and water overnight then cook for two minutes in the microwave, stir, then cook for another two minutes. Serve with milk. Delicious!

Here's my recipe for the old prison favourite: "Quaker" JUMBO porridge oats and no other- for real texture and nuttiness. Good squeeze of pouring honey, Good handful of sultanas Heaped tablespoonful dessicated coconut. Good pinch ground sea salt Big grind of ground pepper. Method: Add sufficient cold tap water to cover level oats by 1 cm Stir really well and continuously over high heat until all the water is almost absorbed. Serve immediately and eat from side of plate while it cools down. Yummy. I find this recipe so delicious that it turns boring old porridge into a gourmet sensation! Give it a try....
