Just like my Gran used to make. Except by the time she had the top rolled out, a lot of the apple would have been stolen!!! Although I add a sprinkling of cinnamon.

This is very easy and very tasty. I made a mistake and bought the wrong sugar, so I used golden unrefined granulated sugar but this still tasted very lovely and I have had compliments. I didn't use nutmeg either as didn't have any. Would recommend to everyone

Although asda no longer sells cooking apples and the staff have never heard of that type of sugar... it turned out VERY nice! I used normal eating apples (big crunchy green ones), they could've done with a little more cinnamon, but it was very nice!

I love ready rolled pastry - makes this kind of recipe much less of a hassle! I've cooked my way through two carrier bags full of Bramleys and I'm now on my third - I will definitely be making this pie again, the flour just thickens up the apple juices enough to make it unctuous and the touch of cinnamon is always a winner with apples.

Love this recipe....absolutely perfect with the Ultimate Vanilla Ice Cream! I do make my own rich shortcrust pastry though and add more cinnamon and mixed spice instead of nutmeg.
