Ingredients

  • 175g linguine
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, finely sliced
  • 100ml white wine
  • 2 tbsp reduced-fat crème fraîche
  • juice ½ lemon (or to taste)
  • 2 handfuls (150g) raw peeled prawns
  • small bunch chives, finely chopped

Method

  1. Cook the pasta. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a pan and gently fry the garlic for 2 mins. Tip in the wine and bubble over a high heat for 1 min, then lower the heat and stir in the crème fraîche and lemon juice. Season to taste with salt and plenty of black pepper. Simmer for 1 min to reduce a little, then add the prawns and simmer in the sauce until just pink.
  2. Drain the pasta and tip into the sauce with half the chives. Use tongs to mix everything together. Divide between 2 shallow bowls and sprinkle with the remaining chives.

I'd like to thank you for this recipe. I doubled it up to do lunch for 4 and after reading other comments didn't use much lemon juice. I also grated a courgette in the magimix which I added with the cooked prawns just warming them through and it was delicious and went down very well.

Really quick to make and absolutely delicious - one of new favourite midweek meals!
I also add spinach or pak choi to the pasta for extra goodness (add to pasta cooking in water 3 - 4 mins before it's ready, like broccoli in this one here: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1506634/lemony-prawn-pasta)

I followed this recipe to the measurement and the second, and I was so disappointed. 100ml is FAR too much white wine. It should be called white wine pasta with prawns. Even with the smallest amount of lemon juice it would have been too over powering and acidic.

I was really disappointed with the result :( I only put abit of lemon in but even then it was way too lemony!! Next time Im going to add less lemon & some light philidelphia cheese instead of the cream fraiche.

Recommendation: Light philidelphia, prawns or salmon, dill, asparagas, chilli seeds & linguine :)

I make a version of this but use more garlic. Sometimes add parsley instead and have also added either mussels or indian squid tubes. If you have a lot of courgettes grate courgettes at the last minute.

I think it was a little too tart with the creme fraiche and lemon together, so much so I binned the first batch!
The second try, I doubled the garlic used a little lemon and zest and added single cream instead of creme fraiche and it was SO much better. Also added some clams and squid along with the prawns. Def one for an easy but impressive dinner party main!

Is there anything you could use to replace the prawns? Maybe chicken? I want to cook it for my other half but he hates prawns.

I absolutely love this recipe, it's so easy and very tasty. I double the garlic and add a finely chopped red chilli.

Loved this recipe i actually put a little more lemon in and doubled the garlic (love garlic) tasted great. Will deff do again

I was disappointed with this actually - I think I put too much lemon juice in though as that was the overwhelming flavour. So if you try it, maybe add a bit at a time and taste.
