  1. Preheat the oven to fan 170C/conventional 190C/gas 5. Using an electric whisk, beat together the butter and sugar until pale and creamy.

  2. Stir in the egg yolks, ground almonds, toffees, dried apple and flour. Mix well together then roll into walnut-sized balls.

  3. Place well apart on two non-stick or lined baking sheets and flatten slightly with your hand. Brush with milk and bake for 8-12 minutes until golden. Leave to firm up for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool completely.

These are great. Very easy to make and very more-ish. I hadn't been able to get straight-forward toffees and had toffee eclairs, so their chocolate centre melted out a bit. Still worked. Make sure to compact the "dough" well so the biscuits don't crumble apart when you take them out - although the crumbs are delicious for those that do crumble. And make sure you space them well. The biscuits will spread a little and merge into each other if they're too close.

Oh and let them cool on the baking paper before removing. They do need time to dry out before putting on the wire tray, though that could have been the apple slices and chocolate eclair I used.

Cinnamon Applesauce Bars
CarbsPerServing:11.5, appx 6 if oats ommitted and use 4 C.
almond flour instead
Prep Time:5-10 min.
2 C. almond flour (meal)
2 C. oats
1 C. unsweetened applesauce
1 large egg
1 T. cinnamon
1 t. baking soda
1 C. Splenda
2 T. sugar free pancake syrup

How to Prepare:
Slightly beat egg and mix in applesauce and syrup. Mix in Splenda
then add almond flour, oats, baking soda and cinnamon. Press into
the bottom of a 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

I thought these were yummy- apart from the dried apple was a little bit hard to chew but I think that was just the type of dried apple and the chewy toffee was so hard to cut up! But other than that - YUM!

Love these cookies, took them to bake club the other night and they were a hit. Only 4 stars from me though as I did find the mixture quite dry and crumbly and therefore hard to work with, but this didn't seem to have any impact on the taste, which was delicious.

What a disaster. I made double the quantity for two different events and hardly had any cookies that did not fall apart. I won't make these again.

ok - didnt do a lot for me. They seemed to go down well with friends but I've definitely made better. I wouldn't follow this recipe again.

Made these tonight - used some oat bran with the flour, added mixed spice and used cheap toffees but they worked! (put them into a plastic bag and bashed with the rolling pin). Also used dried apricot - lovely!

Very tasty indeed. BUT they glued themselves to the baking tray and they fell apart afterwards.

made and enjoyed these tonight. I think the dough might be better with some cinamon in. I used Dairy toffees and gave them a couple of secs in the microwave before chopping them up with scissors which i dipped in the ground alonnds and flour to stop the blades being sticky.

This recipe made about 36 cookies for me. I added a tbsp of maple syrup and 1tsp mixed spice. They were yummy for a Halloween and Bonfire Party.

I fiddled with this recipe quite a bit, used fresh pear instead of dried apple and fudge instead of toffee, I also replaced half the flour with oats and put 50g extra ground almond in to compensate for the extra moisture in the pears. Result: absolutely delicious!

tasted good! just make sure you take the cookies of before they go too hard, I had a nightmare trying to get them off the tray!
Overall a great recipe!

Delicious! I made these with dried apricots, chopped up small, chocolate chips and sultanas instead of toffees and apple. They were absolutely delicious. Firm favourites in our house now.

I make these every year. Do use soft toffees. I tried these once with tesco value toffees - I was on an economy drive - they tasted great but it was such an effort to break the toffee into small enough pieces.

Very tasty, but a little crumbly, could probably do with a tbsp of milk in the mixture to make it bind better as well.
