Lovely warming soup and you get so much of it! excellent for a filling lunch and quick to make. I didn't have any garam masala in the cupboards so missed it out and just used chilli flakes. Didn't miss it and the chilli just gave it anice warming kick rather than being over powering. So much better than shop bought.

Amazing and so easy and simple to make. I added cumin seeds with the onions and softened them in oil before adding rest ingredients to bring out the flavour. didn't add yoghurt but great for lunches. I've frozen a couple of portions so hopefully it keeps/freezes nicely!

This is probably the easiest soup I've ever made (and I've made a lot!) and it was very very tasty.

Fabulous soup! I added a white and red onion and about 40g of coriander. the coriander made this soup. Didn't bother with the yoghurt. Yet another great way of getting lentils into the diet (if you like this soup you might also like the spiced red lentil soup also from this site). Soup doesn't get any easier, quicker or tastier than this! Would be nice to try without blending and having with a naan bread.

Brilliant recipe. I softened the onions first in about a tablespoon oil and then added the garam masala and cooked for a minute or so before adding the other ingredients. I didn't bother with the yoghurt and (following Pj's suggestion above - thanks Pj!) served with naan bread. Clean bowls all round. Souper dooper!

Really good - easy to make and as you chuck everything into the pan there is no fat. Fab!

I wasn't all that thrilled with this soup as it seemed to have a faint bitter aftertaste. I suspect a dodgy batch of garam masala in this case so not the recipe's fault, but although it was OK I doubt I'd remake it anyway.

How can this dish possibly have 15 grams of protein from two tablespoons of lentils?

Made this to help us get through the cold weather (25th July in southern France!!), and it did the job very well. Delicious! I doubled the quantity of lentils and made double portions of the soup. Next time I'll make triple quantity, by popular request :-)

Superbly easy, very quick and very tasty. Could actually work as sauce for a very quick after-work curry? Just add chicken!

Really tasty soup and very easy to make. I think next time I will soften the onions a little and probably add some garlic as I cant get enough of the stuff. I like the idea of adding cumin aswell so as to add a tad more flavour.
