  • 500g tub Neapolitan pasta sauce (from the chiller cabinet)
  • a good handful of fresh basil leaves

Most closely associated with Mediterranean cooking but also very prevalent in Asian food, the…

  • 250g pkt fresh stuffed spinach and ricotta tortellini
  • 100g pkt mozzarella, sliced
  • 2 tbsp grated fresh Parmesan

Parmesan is a straw-coloured hard cheese with a natural yellow rind and rich, fruity flavour. It…

  • 1 tbsp pine nut
  • mixed salad leaves, to serve

  1. Assemble the sauce. Preheat the oven to 180C/gas 4/fan160C. Tip the pasta sauce into a large bowl and thin it down with 100ml/31⁄2fl oz water. Scatter in the basil leaves and tortellini, season with salt and freshly ground pepper, and give it all a really good stir.

  2. Layer it all up. Tip half the pasta mixture into two individual gratin dishes (or one bigger one), tear half of the mozzarella and scatter over each dish. Spoon the rest of the pasta and sauce on top and press the pasta down a little so it doesn’t stick above the sauce too much. Tear the remaining mozzarella and scatter on top with the parmesan and the pine nuts.

  3. Bake and serve. Put the dishes on a baking sheet to catch any spills, and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbling. Serve with a leafy salad.

Great dinner , only takes five mins to throw together. Didn't need to add any extra water but I suppose it depends on the brand of pasta sauce.

A few other commentors have said this isnt a proper recipe but so what! This recipe is perfect for days when you're not in the mood to cook and is still not as unhealthy or expensive as a takeaway pizza. Not everyone lives in the UK and it's not easy where I live to find decent vegetarian options for eating out, ready meals etc

this is not a recipe, it's a combination of bought ready made ingredients. Plus there is too much cheese! not 'good food' at all.

I loved this, but husband and son were indifferent. Probably because I love cheesy pasta bakes,, and they don't! Shame, because it's so easy.

Was not impressed with this at all.

I made it as well and I loved it! So easy to make and so delicious! I have a few of these in my freezer for when I get home late from work (or going out) and don't want to cook.

So simple, so easy and so tasty!

YUM :) Boyfriend asking whne we can have this again!
Tried this last night with a beef ragu and chianti sauce and porchini tagliatelle. Next time will just use the cheese on top as i think my gratin dishes were shallower and wider. I will be experimenting with various sauces and pasta very soon - also thought it would be nice to add some cooked mushrooms in the sauce.

I really enjoyed it but husband not so keen. Great for a quick tea.

Yum - made it with tomato and mascarpone ready made sauce to make it a bit creamier. You need to add a bit more water to the sauce to thin it down. Kids loved it too.

Yummy :)

We was divided on this one, two of us loved it, two weren't so keen I will try it again with a different flavoured stuffed pasta and see what happens I also found it needed longer than the cooking time stated as it was only lukewarm when I got it out of the oven.

I love this! It has become a real favourite in our house! Yeah it is calorific, but its not like you make it everynight. I've experimented with different stuffed pasta and we've found the ones we like now, wild mushroom and ricotta and spicy sausage, yum!
This is such a simple dish to prepare, so quick. My hubby always goes back for second helping. We never use the pine nuts, because I am allergic, but just as delish without!

This is not the healthiest, but for a quick tasty tea every now and again its perfect!!!

This is a favourite superfast recipe although it has undergone some changes I add olives and it is particularly nice with cherry tomatoes baked on top and if I have any left over ricotta knocking around in the fridge a few blobs applied between the mozarella is really lovely! Perfect after a long week when you are worn out and want a meal that hugs you back - ready in no time - perfect!!!

This was yummy, although I needed a bigger dish.

I made this for my husband and he enjoyed it. Ok it's not cooking but it isn't always possible to make everything from scratch.
