Method

  1. Assemble the sauce. Preheat the oven to 180C/gas 4/fan160C. Tip the pasta sauce into a large bowl and thin it down with 100ml/31⁄2fl oz water. Scatter in the basil leaves and tortellini, season with salt and freshly ground pepper, and give it all a really good stir.
  2. Layer it all up. Tip half the pasta mixture into two individual gratin dishes (or one bigger one), tear half of the mozzarella and scatter over each dish. Spoon the rest of the pasta and sauce on top and press the pasta down a little so it doesn't stick above the sauce too much. Tear the remaining mozzarella and scatter on top with the parmesan and the pine nuts.
  3. Bake and serve. Put the dishes on a baking sheet to catch any spills, and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbling. Serve with a leafy salad.

easy `cheaty' recipe that tastes as if you have spent a long time making it. Pine nuts make it . I would give it 5 stars as an easy late supper.

used ham & cheese tortellini, sauce from a jar, added some tuna and courgettes, didn't use pine-nuts, added mozzarella as directed - yummers! never thought of using tortellini in a pasta bake before :)

Very quick and easy but a bit disappointed when lifting the mozzarella up with the fork that it didn't spell 'pizza hut' but very scrummy anyway

Great recipe, forgot to buy mozzarella so made a quick cheese sauce which worked just as well, all the family loved it and it tasted great even after a couple of days in the fridge.

Love this recipe with any stuffed pasta. My brother-in-law usually has a packet of pasta to himself, and was surprised when I told him it was only half on his plate! Baking it seems to make it more filling - don't know why!

Another highly successful recipe and so very easy! It is scenting my kitchen out with delicious aromas even as I type this comment. I kept strictly to the recipe as I wanted to know how long it would take to make - not long, so a winner for anyone who wants to produce a savoury dish quickly. I doubled the quantities so that I could feed a family and it has worked a treat.
