Method

  1. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Heat the oil in large pan, add the garlic and fry for 1 min. Add the tomatoes, chilli and seasoning, bring to the boil and simmer for 10 mins.

  2. Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti, then drain. Mix the spaghetti with the tomato sauce and basil, then spoon half into a large ovenproof dish. Arrange half the mozzarella over the top and sprinkle with half the Parmesan. Repeat the layers, then bake for 15-20 mins until lightly browned on top. Scatter with extra basil and serve with a big green salad.

Made this tonight for my family and it was liked by all! I followed the recipe, but did add one red onion, two extra cloves of garlic, one red pepper and a small jar of tomato and basil pizza sauce - wonderful! Will be making this dish again, with fresh (but cooked) chorizo.

A simple crowd pleaser. You can't really go wrong with a pasta bake. We added some mushrooms and plan to add some more veg next time we make it.

This is one of my favourite meals, I LOVE it soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much it is completely delic!!!!!!!!! I completely recemend this to anyone and everyone!

Sauce was bland and end result was dry. Next time, I would probably use a sauce I already like, then just stick it under the grill to melt the cheese rather than baking it.

I made this using my own tomato sauce (soffrito of carrot onion celery and garlic, tin of tomatoes, tomato purée salt and pepper) and it was delicious. My 3yo and 1yo cleared their plates. Definitely a make again, quick supper. It can be made ahead too, which makes it perfect for after work.

Really loved this, added some bacon lardons which worked really well. My husband always moans when we have pasta as he's not the biggest fan but he actually went back for seconds of this one! Simple, good, cheap midweek meal :-)

Have made this recipe a number of times since it appeared in GF. I add more garlic and also a good handful of almonds to give it a bit of crunch. Given that it is essentially a pizza mix (tomato and mozzarella) I think that pretty much anything that you would sling on top of a pizza would go well in this.

Made this with whole grain spaghetti and tomato purée instead of canned tomatoes.
Also, i used Pecorino instead of Parmesan; i sprinkled it on top after removing the bake from oven first.
Our dinner turned out fine.

Add a little Balsamic vinegar, use really good quality ingredients, and this is a perfect dish for pasta lovers!! Enjoy :)

Nice and tasty and quick and easy to make. I also added some chopped onion and a tablespoon or so of red-wine vinegar. I used only 300g of spaghetti as 400g seemed rather a lot! Served 4 comfortably and the sauce was just right for that amount of pasta.

I added some mushrooms, onion and a splash of balsamic and a tin of butter beans to the sauce and cooked some left over broccoli with the pasta. It made a really substantial meal. Very tasty, I will be making this again.
