Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
  2. Sift the flour and baking soda into a bowl, then add the salt and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar thoroughly. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy. Then mix in the reserved sifted ingredients until mixed. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.
  4. Pour 1/4 of the cookie dough at a time onto the prepared greased sheets. The cookies should be about 3 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Thank you Duckie these were delicious, i used a mixture of dark and white chocolate broken into bits as i prefer not to buy overpriced choc chips . But i must confess I found the insructions a bit confusing eg. when putting the dough onto the cookie sheet - why do you divide into 1/4 surely this should mean divide into the number of cookies you need ? Also 2g of baking soda - what is this in teaspoons as 2g very difficult to measure out .

Produces amazing cookies, I cook them for slightly less time, around 13 mins as we have a fan oven and they are awesome every time. Thank you for sharing Duckie

It looks like this recipe is based on one I have been using for a while now (allrecipes.com, 'best big fat chewy chocolate chip cookie'). These cookies are amazing - hands down beat Millie's cookies. The only change I make is to use less chocolate chips (300g is more than enough) and bake for 15min in a fan oven 165c. Makes 18-20 cookies. Also note that the allrecipes.com version has a bit more salt than this one, which I really like. And don't grease the baking paper - it encourages more spread
