Pears with speedy choc sauce

This super-quick pud is a crowd-pleaser - and is easily dressed up for grown-ups with a splash of Disaronno

Method

  1. Drain the pears over a small pan. Divide between 4 dessert glasses or bowls. Boil the syrup on a high heat until reduced and thick. Take off the heat and stir in the chocolate until melted.
  2. Add 2 scoops of ice cream onto each portion of pears and pour over the hot choc sauce. Top with the chopped nuts.

    I made this but omitted the choc and used Mars bars melted in with some of the pear juice and heated - yummy!

    I bought pears in juice rather than syrup, so added a couple of spoonfuls of sugar to it before reducing. It's a very good, very quick pud with fruit in it. The mars bars is a good idea.

    Do you use just the one mars bar or part of a mars bar or what, I've never used that sort of chocolate confectionary in cooking before!

    Made this ages ago and forgot to rate it - really lovely, super quick. A fab stand-by pud for unexpected guests! One suggestion - make sure the pears are really well drained or even pat them dry or it all gets a bit too wet as the ice-cream melts!
