Method

  1. Put the lamb, onion, half the garlic, half the ginger and half the spices in a bowl and season well. Mix (clean hands are best) and form into little meatballs (you'll make around 30).
  2. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large non-stick pan and add the meatballs in batches, frying until browned all over. Scoop out, then add the rest of the garlic, ginger and spices and cook for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and stock and season. Simmer for 10 minutes, then add back the meatballs and cook for another 20 minutes until sauce is thickened. Stir in the coriander.
  3. To make the couscous put in a bowl with the butter and some seasoning. Pour over the chicken stock and cover with clingfilm. Leave for 10 minutes. Stir the herbs through and serve with meatballs.

A very lovely meal indeed. I used whole cumin seeds roasted in a pan and then ground in a mortar and pestle for added flavour. Will definitely make this again.

I did this for a relatively quick Saturday night dinner it was so simple to make and everyone loved the sauce after it thickned slightly. I didn't add chili flakes but added coriander seasoning to my sauce and to the cous cous and it worked really well. I also added a little more ginger and garlic to provide some more flavour and it worked out really well. So simple and so tasty will definately be making this again.

Delicious recipe! I made it almost to the recipe except used beef instead of lamb as that is what we had! It was really lovely and perfectly spiced. Really enjoyed and look forward to trying again (next time will give the lamb a go). Highly recommended!!

What a delicious way to serve mince. I used beef for the meatballs, but followed the rest of the recipe. The sauce was rich and beautifuly spiced. I would add more chilli next time.

Added about 1/2 tsp of chilli flakes to both meatballs and sauce as per Flylady's recommendation and finely chopped onion to sauce. Result was delicious.

This one of our favourite recipes. Have made it a few times now and it keeps on getting better. Def recommend adding chilli flakes or a fresh chilli to give it added kick. Also have added harissa paste too.
