Method

  1. Heat the oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas7. Wilt the spinach with a little butter in a pan or in the microwave and season well. Press out any excess liquid with the back of a spoon then divide between two individual ovenproof gratin dishes and sit the fish on top.
  2. Mix the crème fraîche, mustard and cheese then season. Spread over the top of the fish then sprinkle on some breadcrumbs. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden, bubbling and fish is cooked through.

Delicious and so quick and easy to make. The smoked haddock fillets were quite large so I put a bit of extra creme fraiche in and used the crust of a brown loaf for the breadcrumbs. Would definitely make this again

I made this the other evening and it tasted lovely, but the only problem was it was really watery and needed finishing off under the grill. I think it was probably because I used cheddar instead of gruyere. I'd definitely try it again with gruyere to see if it makes a difference!

I was dubious about this at first but decided to try it anyway. I used cheddar and frozen spinach as that was all I had. Really tasty and easy - will be making it again.

Quick, easy and absolutely delicious. Thoroughly recommended in all respects which typifies the quality of so many recipes from 'Olive' magazine. Visually dress it up a bit and it would make a first class dinner party dish with minimal effort. Served with new potatoes and french beans.

I made this from memory so forgot about the mustard... I also fiddled about with it a bit & it was delicious - yes it was a little watery round the edges but nothing some crusty bread couldn't deal with :) My additions: I pan fried a smoked bacon medallion & removed when cooked, to the pan I then added little onion & garlic & cooked until soft, I added a dash of white wine & cooked it out. I let this cool & mixed it into the creme fraiche. I placed the fish on top of the spinach and then chopped the bacon over it. I followed the rest of the recipe as written. I served it with new potatoes & roasted mediteranian veg. I will definatley be making this again

Quite decent for the amount of time it takes to cook, the haddock was both creamy and crunchy making it a good, quick tasty dish; just perfect really for a midweek meal.

Having read the other comments about the dish ending up a bit watery, after cooking the spinach I gave it a really good squeeze using my hands. Much more water came out than if i had just used the spoon method suggested in the recipe. The result was a truly delicious (and watery free) meal. My partner gave it a 10 out of 10 and wants to know when we are next having it!

Really easy and really tasty. Have made this twice now, once with gruyere and once with cheddar and both were delicious. A lovely mid week treat that takes minutes to prepare.
