Method

  1. Cream butter and add sugar together using an electric beater.
  2. Add flour and cocoa beat together, lastly add cornflakes beat together.
  3. Grease a baking tray, and place a small golf ball sized ball of the mixture on the tray, then flatten with the back of a spoon.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 180C, leave to cool.
  5. Once cool can ice with chocolate icing and a walnut, but I prefer not to!

    Used unsalted butter instead of "stork", and only had 40g cornflakes left. I liked the crunch from the cornflakes but didn't like the way each mouthful turned to dust. Wouldn't make again.

    This is a classic NZ recipe. The biscuits must be made with butter, iced with a rich chocolate icing and topped with half a walnut. They're NOT Afghans if you omit those steps.
