Can you cook it?

Trying to encourage your child to cook? Be inspired by the 12 finalists in Blue Peter's nationwide 'Can you cook it?' competition, to find a chef of the future.

Good Food magazine joined forces with Blue Peter to help them find a winning chef for their 'Can you cook it'? competition. The lucky winner, Jake, will have his own slot on the BBC1 programme!

Good Food's deputy food editor, Jane Hornby, went on the road with the Blue Peter team, to narrow down the entrants to just 12 finalists. Jane chose recipes - including American pancakes and an omelette - that the children had to cook in front of the three judges, including Good Food's editor, Gillian Carter, who was one of the judges in the Peterborough heats.

The standard of entries was incredibly high, and we all found it hard to choose a winner, but he'll make a great junior chef!

You can get the winning recipe by Jake, along with the 11 finalists', over at the Blue Peter website. We hope they inspire your kids to become the chefs of the future...

You'll be able to read an interview with the winner, and pick up his new recipes, in future issues of Good Food magazine.
