Gregg Wallace
An expert on vegetables and an enthusiast for home growing and local buying
Gregg is a regular face in both Good Food and Olive magazines. His expertise in vegetables stems from his success over the years in the trade and his obvious passion for what he does.
Born in east London, Gregg started out as a market trader in Covent Garden's vegetable market. In 1989 he opened George Allan's Greengrocers, a company which grew to achieve a turnover of 7.5 million.
His success and flare for greengrocing got him an invite to co-host Veg Talk on BBC Radio 4, a role he stayed in for seven years. In 2002 Gregg moved on to become the presenter of Saturday Kitchen and Saturday Kitchen live on BBC. He went on to present on the Discovery Channel and The Food Channel and was awarded the Royal Television Society award for Best Lifestyle Programme in 2003.
Back to the field
As well as contributing regularly to Good Food Gregg co-hosts Master Chef Goes Large and runs his own farm which supplies many of the popular restaurants in London with their fruit and vegetables. He has also set up Home Grown Direct, a website where you can order a range of seasonal produce to be delivered straight to your door.
