Brian Turner

Known for his direct approach in the kitchen and love of traditional British home cooking

When you think of Brian Turner's cooking it conjures up images of delicious roast pork with apple sauce followed by a rich bread and butter pudding like no other. Yum!

A no-nonsense chef from Yorkshire, Brian believes in good food, and not compromising on taste. His love of traditional British dishes stems from his strong northern roots and he is well known for his direct, blunt yet cheeky manner.

From commis chef to CBE

Brian studied at Leeds College of Food Technology and moved to London when he was 18 where he worked in Simpson's-in-the-Strand. He trained in some of the most prominent hotels in Europe including The Savoy Grill in London, the Beau Rivage Palace in Lusanne and the Capital Hotel (London) where he and fellow chef Richard Shepherd earned a Michelin star.

In 1986, Brian opened Turner's in Knightsbridge and, to the shock of many, sold it at the height of its success in 2001. A year later he opened his second restaurant at The Crown Plaza Hotel in Birmingham's NEC and has also opened Brian Turner Mayfair in London and Turner's Gill in Windsor. Keeping in line with Brian's signature style, this restaurant boasts simple, honest food.

In 2002 he was awarded a CBE for his services to tourism and training.
