My life on a plate: Michel Roux Jr

Michel Roux Jr talks about his fiercest critic, eating stork feet and his first food memories...
My first food memory is the smell of sugar caramel and uncle practicing his pulled sugar work. The first thing I ever cooked was pasta with my mother at home as a child.
My fiercest food critic is probably my daughter, then me!
I never really had any doubts about joining the family business. I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
What do I look for in a trainee chef? Determination, drive and decency.
The strangest request I've had from a customer was to cook a tuna tartare!
What's strange to one is banal to another. Stork feet are unusual.
The strangest thing I've ever eaten? What's strange to one is banal to another. Stork feet are unusual.
I love long distance running but I am pretty sure that I am a better chef than an athlete.
What would I eat as my final meal? Roast lobster with garlic butter and fat chips.
My most-thumbed cookbook is Alain Chapel "La Cuisine"
The drink I could not live without is water, as a keen runner I drink loads of it, but champagne comes a close second.
What am I up to next? I'm off to Monaco to see my daughter and enjoy a great dinner together.
The Roux Legacy is new and exclusive to Good Food, Sunday - Thursday at 8pm from 29th January (Sky / HD 249, Virgin 260)
