Here's some (favourites) we made earlier...

Posted at , 22 December 2010 by Caroline Hire - Food editor, bbcgoodfood.com

We can't resist a top ten, so to round off 2010 we asked Sarah, Barney and Lucy from the Good Food cookery team to share their top three recipe triumphs of 2010...

Beginning with our queen of all things sweet and lovely, Sarah selected two of her best bakes of the year, and covered the savoury angle too with her third choice:

1. Fudgy coconut brownies Sarah says, "I was really pleased with these no-fail brownies...squidgy, sticky and moreish. They're pretty cheap to make because I've used cocoa instead of melted chocolate, and I absolutely love the combination with the coconut - but if you're not a fan, use chopped nuts, raisins and a shot of rum."

2. Roly-poly bread & butter pud "My sticky puddings feature from October was definitely my favourite - imagine having free reign to create the gooiest, syrup-iest, yummiest puds I could come up with - I was in heaven!! It was a tough choice to pick just one (and you really seem to love the self-saucing jaffa pudding) but the flash of inspiration on a long train journey home which led me to combine two classics had to make my top three."

3. Slow-roast pork rolls with apple chilli chutney "I re-tested this at home for some friends and now every time there's a party they ask for it again - so I know this one was a winner! It's possibly the easiest way to entertain."

4. Barney has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to meat and if he recommends his Proper beef ale and mushroom pie then we know it's not to be missed. "I chose this because, for me, it epitomises cooking for pleasure. This recipe celebrates the joy of a traditional dish cooked properly."

5. Quick was definitely top of the pops this year as a cooking trend so we're glad Barney selected his "Quick, easy, low fat and authentic" One-pan prawn & tomato curry. "If there's one recipe that represents the sort of food I cook at home on a weeknight this is it."

6. And finally from Barney, what top ten would be complete without a cheesecake? "When it comes to feeding a crowd Berry-shortbread-cheesecake-slice is hard to beat as it's completely make ahead. Just the thing for a stress-free finale to lunch in the garden."

Lucy, cookery assistant and kitchen supremo, chose a real spread for her top three - a homely classic, a guilty pleasure and an irresistibly sweet treat:
7. Nutty chocolate crunch "This is super quick but really yummy. It's quite rich so one batch goes a long way and its great as you can use up whatever biscuits and chocolates you have left in the cupboard. It doubles up as a great pudding served with vanilla ice cream."

8. Homemade fish finger sarnie "I love fish finger sandwiches as they remind me of being a teenager, I used to have them with that bright orange fake cheese inside...This recipe is good for you AND delicious, so you can afford to have two!"

9. Chicken and leek pies "The ultimate comfort food, I like mopping up any sauce left in the dish with the chips. This recipe is a real crowd pleaser, even kids will eat them so its great for any last minute dinner plans, plus it's so quick to prepare."

In the spirit of fairness, the cookery team provided us with three each, which leaves a spot for you to choose. What was your favourite Good Food recipe published in 2010?

Open QuoteI really loved the chocolate fudge cake which was in one of the summer editions. It is the best chocolate cake I have ever made. I came first in the village fete with it, I've made it for a party and as a birthday cake, as well as for no reason. Do you need one? And, it is one I will be making time and time again.
