The Bank holiday weekend means one thing and one thing only... a long, late lunch on Sunday without worrying about having to get up and face the music on Monday. If we get the weather we're supposed to, it'll be barbecued lamb, or beef with chimichurri and sweet potato and feta salad .

Like Huey, olive has never been or ever will be 'normal'!

The soundtrack? That's easy. At 2pm sharp the radio's tuned to bbc6music's The Huey Show. Huey just so happens to be our new pro in pro versus punter. Not your average restaurant critic, but just like Huey, olive has never been or ever will be 'normal'!

I think there might be more than one cork pulled over lunch, and if it spills over into the afternoon, there'll be Lemon self-saucing pudding to revive us.

Mum was due to cook gammon and rhubarb pie but as it was her birthday, we managed to steal her away for a chinese in a beautiful local restaurant but Sunday lunch was moved to Monday and it was delicious served with Dad's over-wintered cauli, celeriac and carrots.

My perfect Sunday roast has to be chicken (organic natch), roast potatoes, purple sprouting broccoli, carrots plus a large amount of cauliflower cheese - that cheesy sauce mixed with chicken gravy has revolutionised the way I see Sunday lunch.

I love roast dinner on a sunday. I love cooking it, especially roast pork with apple sauce. Of course, roast spuds the way Delia taught me!! And lots of veg. My kids also love their roasts (they are 5 and 3) and hopefully they will remember these family meals with the same fondness that I remember my sunday lunches from childhood. It doesn't happen every sunday, and through the summer it can also be a bbq or even a lovely roast chicken with a selection of salads and bread. But the important thing is that we all get together, Nanny, auntie, uncle, cousins - we all help make it, we all help eat it and we all help with the tidy up - just like when I was a kid..
