Good Food Blog

New features on bbcgoodfood.com

Posted at , 04 September 2008 by Andrea McGinniss - Editor, bbcgoodfood.com

They say change is as good as a holiday, which is great because we've had a few lately. We've bid farewell to researcher Holly who has gone to spread some of her sparkle across Australia, welcomed her replacement Emily, and moved, with the rest of BBC Worldwide, into our sensational new offices across the road from our old ones. All in a matter of weeks. No wonder we're slightly pooped.

In between doing all this, we've also launched our new recipe section. And to say we're excited is something of an understatement. With almost 5,000 tried and tested recipes on the site now, we wanted you to be able to find the one you're looking for as quickly and easily as possible. And give your eyes a good feast too.

That's why you'll find lots of mouthwatering images, and links to their recipes, on our recipes page. You can instantly see what the six most popular recipes on the site are. Try them yourself and find out why, if you haven't already. You can also see the latest member recipes that have been added to the site. Add yours too and give it the exposure it deserves.

And then there's the collections. We've divided them up into five categories we hope cover nearly every recipe need: cuisines, favourites, occasions, special diets and vegetarian. Delve a little deeper and you'll find more choices, even more droolworthy images, and hopefully all the inspiration you need to feed your family, friends, and your imagination. We'll keep updating the collections and adding new ones so let us know if there's something you'd like to see more of.

There's lots more exciting stuff in the pipeline too, and new recipes being added every day, so keep coming back, rating, commenting, and cooking too. And did you know it's only 111 sleeps until Christmas? What was that about a holiday? Gulp.

Open QuoteExciting times! It's actually quite fun to have a browse around looking for dinner recipes, although not when I'm hungry! Best time is just after breakfast.

Open QuoteYes, two months into the job and I'm certainly enjoying the benefits of our new office space... Sitting with the mag's cookery team and being regularly called upon to sample the fruits of the legendary test kitchen (today's post-lunch snack was a wedge of Barney's ice cream cake) is a definite perk! A press release arrived yesterday, asking: 'Is your workplace making you fat?'... it's only a matter of time!

Open QuoteLooks like change is good... It's great that you now group those recipes together, I'm probably cooking for a coeliac friend next week and I was able to straight to a selection of great-looking gluten-free recipes. Catering crisis averted, though I have to pick which one I do now!

Open QuoteBig changes! Like the new recipe pages, really helps out to have things grouped by cuisine etc for when stuck for inspiration. Any chance of a new pic of the bbcgoodfood.com ladies in their new offices?

Open QuoteSorry White Jeans, the food is unfortunately much more photogenic than me, though perhaps not the rest of the team, so for now you'll have to make do with our recipe pics. Happy cooking!

Open QuoteI love the GF website- I am always on finding new recipes to cook and caching up on the blogs. Just one question how long is it before you put the recipes from the gf magazine onto the website as I have often made things and it seems an age before I can put my comments on:)
